How many 19yo and how many 20yo players are in Your plan concerning 1st match against Cymru?
Cymru sacrificed last qualification and has many 20yo players with at least solid-formidable experience. |

I have to see the training update. We will almost certainly have one 19yo keeper, one 19yo forward and maybe 1-2 defenders, but we will see. Against Cymru I expect to mostly play 20yo's, they are not a team to be treated too lightly. |

[quote="mastercyb"]I have now shortlists for all positions and for both generations (the qualification one and the world cup one).[/qute]
Could you put those somewhere online and paste the link here, so that we have common basis to talk about the game and the players to use tomorrow? |

I will try later tonight to give a brief overview of the squad situation. My main file is too extended and there is more information that we need for general discussions, and a short presentation of what our options are is more useful. Also, I will make some of the calls after the training, I am the kind of manager that doesn't like to do everything in the last minutes. I want Cymru to be aware that we are strong and that we are not going to take them lightly. Anyway, I hope that I don't need to say it too often, opinions and questions are always welcome and I am looking forward to seeing your ideas here. The first game in a campaign is always tough. We don't have too many information about the opponent manager, about the squad he will choose, about his strategy for the campaign. It's good though that we have a preliminary list of their possible players, a list that I asked for last week and that was done. |

As it is the first game, we need to:
- pic - win - win as high as possible to get confidence up and have better attack afterwards - get 2 goals lead till approx 60th minute to avoid experience event. Because of this I think we should play 11 20yos tomorrow. Maybe including 1-2 20,5 yos in good form. Maybe Mokrzycki could play, but only if he gains at least one and preferably to levels of form tomorrow. He won't make us safe of exp event anyway, as even with him we'll have lower team experience than Wales. I looked at players Wales has. Generally they are weak. Wages of most of them are at a level they should be one season earlier. They have 5 real stars and luckily 4 of them are really young. Their best player is clearly the keeper. Perfect age for qualifiers, good skill, solid form, luckily he lacks some stamina. 4 other great players (DF Clarke, IMs Sinnott and Margolis, WG Jeffreys) are 19.20 - 19.50 today, so they are 9-12 trainings behind perfect age players. Which makes them not that great at the moment. Two of them really lack stamina, so they are even less of a threat. So we have to play at home against experienced but mediocre team having a great keeper and aiming at top2 finish. Last thing means they won't mots us. All together mean they'd probably go for a defensive lineup with a pic. I'd start counting our formation levels from a 343 with stacked one wing, one defensive forward and probably 4th inner as CDoff. If this lacks midfield, then I'd try 352 with 4 inners and one wing stacked as high as possible (WGo, another winger as WBo, some inner with offensive skills as IMtw). |

I'd have to agree. If our goals are as Jacek listed, we have to be as strong as possible. I think that defending from the exp event makes no sense in our situation, as there is no real chance for us to be protected from it.
There is one problem I see, though, even if you decide to play with 11 20yo's. The problem is attack. Our confidence isn't high enough to be sure of getting through any defence, even if we have 20yo forwards. Therefore I'd also agree with the next paragraph of what Jacek sayes - if 3-4-3 won't give us as much midfield as we need, I'd suggest going for 3-5-2 with one strong side attack (could be with FWtw - TDF). And one more thing. From what I know, our SP is a CD/WB (or mabye we have a 20yo SP that I don;t know of?), I think there's no doubt he will come in handy in this match. + one CDoff (IM), this leaves us with only one spot in the defence, I'm not sure whether playing WGo - SP - IMoff will give us any defence. This would be OK against a Benin - alike tactic, but it won't be OK against any 4-4-2 CA or so, we might have quite a problem in that case. To cut the story short - I'd suggest playing with at least one true defender, probably a good WB with as high as possible winger skill. WBn - SP + IMoff might give us a good side defence and I suppose a quite good center defence. I don't know the skills, of course, but it seems to be a better option to me than playing all without defence and f.e. relying on one attack only. And some thoughts about planing a few subs in case of not winning in the 65th minute keep coming to my mind, but I'm not sure if that's necessary, although it seems to make sense. F.e., if you decided to play 3-5-2 with the mentioned combination of FWtw - TDF, it might be a good idea to plan such a sub (forward out, exCD in, 65th minute, not winning - shoot, there should be a "loosing, drawing or winning by one goal and not more" option available ;-) - this might prevent us at least from a part of the effect of the exp event. Edit: We're gonna have a free English training for the next few months, seems cool to me ;-) |

In most aspects I agree with both of you. The main problem that I see is the defence. In the new game engine I've seen a lot of "strange" results in matches when one team has strong midfield, but average attack and defence, while the opponent has a balanced lineup.
It feels that if you have possession, you get more chances than before, so at least before I see the forms, i trust more a formation with possession, reasonable defense and 1 side of attack(be it a strong wing, or a center attack with 3 forwards). Even a classic 352 formation seems quite strong in the new match engine... What are your thoughts on this? |

Ok, so let's see the squad:
gk: I called Witomski(19yo) and tomorrow I have to decide between 234234784 Bronisław Piesio 234396597 Konrad Pyton def: Here we have two 20yo in the squad: 233125487 Mariusz Bokwa 234003184 Ryszard Basta I am still thinking about the following 20 yo: 234238636 Jan Jaroszek 235074565 Stefan Pawlas 235524212 Władysław Mikosz Also here I am seriously considering leaving 1-2 spots for the 19yo's: 248456588 Lesław Kostorowski 247515975 Oswald Dyks Last, but not least, we have two sp'ers fighting for U20: 247517229 Andrzej Grajner 248489658 Jarosław Sowul The first one has passable pm and formid def, the second one has outstanding def since last week. Both have titanic sp. inners I already called: 234816748 Adam Sozański 229366655 Arkadiusz Gibaszek 236630405 Jakub Szot 237619801 Marian Strzeboński 232285723 Mieczysław Banaszczyk and of course the 19 yo captain. Here, I will not make further 19yo calls, not until we are very close to qualification. Here I will not make further calls for tomorrow, but there are few other very good inners still with a chance: 237198255 Edmund Olesz 234436222 Edward Idec 229356694 Leopold Łatak 229268094 Kazimierz Bortlik and few others. wingers In the squad: 237476479 Dawid Semik 234550742 Przemysław Kołosiński The first one is quick and second one has solid pm. I should call one more for tomorrow, but it is quite tough to decide since almost all the others I was seriously considering are either in bad form or injured: 234994026 Krzysztof Obiegło 237087469 Paweł Brajczewski 234017212 Bolesław Niepsuj and 19yo's: 248390679 Herman Klimpel 249690189 Jacek Modzelewski 249083129 Sobiesław Pałosz forwards 229708656 Czesław Włócik 235406482 Emil Bucki 232384529 Jędrzej Zagajewski All beautiful 20 yo forwards, with specialty. Here I'm thinking that maybe I should call a 4th one which could be: 20 yo's: 235294940 Jan Dybek 233860056 Sławomir Miętkiewicz 19yo: 247511959 Marian Bednarz or a def forward: * Walery Bochnia (228364159) 13/7/5 * Fryderyk Szumiński (226604651) 13/7/5 * Zenon Piechowicz (227376797) 13/4/9 The first one is the best one in terms of age... |

So to sum up:
We have 17 used slots: 1keeper 2defenders 5+1inners 2wingers 3forwards 3coaches 4head players: 2inners and 2forwards 3quick players: inner+winger+forward We have 2 19yo's in the squad: keeper+captain. Players that cannot play it all: 1forward+1inner miss 1 game, 1forward+1inner miss 4games but they can be taken out of the squad with 5 games to go, before the home game against Ecuador that is creating a "gold generation". We still have 9 available slots, we will definitely call 1keeper, 1sp taker, maybe 1 more defender and maybe 1 forward and 1 winger. However, I will try to minimize the calls up. Feel free to ask questions and contribute with ideas. |

Difficult to contribute without having good clues on possible ours and Wales ratings. Did you estimate maybe their MF ratings with 4-5-1 (4 inners, PIC/PIN)? What defence/side attack can they get with neutral/defensive coach in such setup? Same question about 3-5-2 AIM with 3 CDs by them (attacking/neutral coach).
How would we look like in: WB(normal)--CD(SPer here)--xIM--DWB OW(quick)--OIM--IM--xIM F--F PIC, attacking coach? Or similar, but with TDF instead of one of normal forwards? Or DF-FTW pair with OIM replaced by IMTW? |
